BENEFITS OF A FCE

A Functional Capacity Evaluation (FEC) is a standardized evaluation consisting of numerous tests designed to objectively measure a person's physical capabilities  and ability to return to the workplace.

  • If the employee is unable to return to work, an FCE assists in developing a prognosis and determining if occupational rehabilitation measures may be beneficial.

  • If an employee can go back to work, the FCE assists in identifying any changes needed to the employee's workload, and any modifications to the environment.

FCE's are needed to determine if an employee is able to resume working in a capacity "commensurate with his or her skills or abilities" before the disability or medical condition was diagnosed.
